CITY MAP

Re: mapping the the city

A group of three of us spent an hour drifting around the City using a random code. I took Photographs of the entire journey. At each major point( that is , when one cycle of our system is is completed) we need to stop & observe the city space using our senses and make a note of what we can see, hear touch, feel & smell.

In our groups we will design a map of our journey, the map will reflect-the spirit of the psycho-geography i.e. as a playful alteration of the urban environment.

Journey begins at the WAVERLEY BUILDING

"'AUTUMN LEAVES"

"Autumn"

The days of summer will soon be gone.
The season of Fall will begin. .
The trees will show beautiful
bright colored leaves,
we never know for how long.

The beauty of Autumn's a sight to behold,
the colors of yellow, red and gold.
No prettier sight will capture your eye
as you are traveling by.

The green leaves of summer will
begin to change,
as the nights begin to turn cold.
It's as if God painted each leaf
with colors so pretty and bold.

Design: City Symphony

The interpretation and execution of this task was completely down to the students, the only limitations we had were that it had to be either a still image or a video and that it could include sound.

We were also told to pay attention to patterns, shapes, form, colour and texture. Immediately after we were set the task,

The first thing I decided to do was to look up the definition of the word symphony, here is what I found.
"Anything characterized by a harmonious combination of elements, especially an effective combination of colours."

I used different elements to produce a final picture in illustrator and Photoshop. I used the same picture of the leaves three times but using the different layers and stylized effects in Photoshop.
