(SPP) Exploring Multimedia

This essay will examine the important influence of multimedia in today’s global communication systems. The wide-ranging applications of multimedia as a tool of education, business and entertainment will be explored. Graphic design /film and web design will be particularly focused upon as these are the areas of my main practitioner interest and are part of my career pathway. The skills I have already developed will be described and also how these have been acquired will be mapped out as well as my future prospects within the context of multimedia.

Evaluation On the making of Fuel Freedom Video

It was certainly a lot of hard work especially when it came to editing the content of my footage.
As time went on I became more creative, thinking of new ideas to improve the Documentary.
I continually experimented with optimising the sequence of scenes; I did a colour correction on some of them to give a better balance throughout the sequence.
I ultimately worked through hours of footage in order to find a solution to put everything together approximately taking 10 -15 hours to edit everything down to 90 seconds.

Press Conference on the launch of the Film

The film should educate and entertain.
Scales Productions is working together with Medical Aid UK Since 2003 and has made documentaries for the awareness of Aid's, family problems and cultural differences and difficulties for the. Scale production is popular among Media,NHS and Government. It is indeed a great honour for me working as an assistant Resource Manager.
It has given me experience and knowledge.
Scale Productions and Entertainment are proud of the fact that for the first time ever in the histery of film making, a film is been launche at Portcullis House.
This would not have been possible without the outright support of, Mr John Heppell (Member British Parliament), Mr Mohammed Munir (Lord Mayor of Nottingham) and Medical Aid UK.

FUEL FREEDOM (environmental friendly)

The Idea I have now for my 90-second doc is about fuel freedom, The documentary I will be interviewing and asking questions about the new technology, which has only been in this country for about a year now. It is environmental friendly, the boost in energy means that your vehicle will burn fuel more efficiently, leading to more miles per gallon and a noticeable increase in power performance and reduces emissions. The documentary is appealing to all ages because the treatment is environmental friendly.

I was waiting patiently for the new arrival of my first grandchild and was due during the time I was at University. Fortunately she arrived two weeks later just at the beginning of the Easter break which was Mother's day March 18th. I waited in anticipation in the delivery room at the Hospital for several hours until my daughter had given birth to a baby girl. I t was a wonderful experience to see them to come through this so well. Life can be a rollercoaster at times especially trying to juggle family life and University at the same time but everything is much under control now.

DOCUMENTARY To make the documentary appeal to children we shall have a treatment that is playful and include music and animation that is suited to children as well as adults. The colours of animation will make it more attractive and describe their feelings in a creative way. FORUM The Group With No Name Forum will work as an online diary through the project. It will consist of pictures from the process, production notes and gossip. EQUIPMENT 1 Radio Microphone directional microphone VX 2000 camera + tripod Lighting Kit Gel kit 150w blue daylight bulb POSSIBLE QUESTIONS How long have you known each other? Why are you best friends? What do you do together? How do you feel when you argue? How do you make up? Who are you? What do they like about each other? If they could make a wish for the other person what would it be? We already have permission to film the children and to do so within their natural environment. TARGET AUDIENCE People all ages will enjoy this little happy film about friendship. The film will have a certificate U CONTRIBUTION It will be a great film to send to children’s festival. It would also be a good film to show in child friendly galleries, theatre and film bars who cater for children and so on. As the film is designed to work with subtitles it could be played as a silent film with large text for the small and larger audience to reed. This classifies the film as an educational film on two points. A: The reading. B: Relationships. WORKING AS A TEAM We feel that a film on friendship will inspire the group to remain a team. Filming children is always difficult and oppose a great challenge to the team to stay safe and ethical. The group will meet weekly for a cession to discuss development and to swap newly inquired skills. We aim to all come out with a thorough understanding of all of the allocated jobs by teaching each other. So far the group have been keeping in contact trough the phone and over the NTU web. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION All written work and files will be handed in on DV and DVD, filed appropriately according to appendix A2 We have arranged for several dates of filming in case the children might have a bad day or something else happens. Design: 3D Model-making

Exploring techniques for making a scale model of my chosen space using card. Task 1: Make a model of your self in 1:25 Scale (this could be photograph or drawing) Task 2: Make a 1:25 Scale model of an 3 meter square area of the interior or exterior of the Waverley building I made a rough sketch and measure elements of the building such as bricks, doorways etc. T o recreate this 3D effect in model making I needed different tools and material such as a cutting board, scale ruler, card, stanley knife, metal ruler, pencil, scissors and glue. In design I recreated a design in 3D Modelling to make it look identical to the original photograph taken of me standing on the steps outside the Waverley Building. I managed to put in all of the details and elements altogether of the outside buiding of the Waverley including the bricks , concrete slabs, door, steps and bushes and myself. I wanted the model to look very similar to the original picture this is why I used the same colour tone and layout. The colours are almost near to accuracy in comparison to the photograph. It was a pleasure making miniature models of real life.

COPYRIGHT (SPP)

Even if you own up and give credit, it still does not excuse you for copyright infringement. Even if you modify the work beyond recognisable it still does not excuse you from copyright infringement. A copyright protected work can have more than one copyright, or another connected to it. For example, an album of music can have separate copyrights for individual songs, sound recordings, artwork, and so on, whilst, copyright protects the artwork of your logo, but you could register the logo as a trade mark. The main problem with proving you have copyright is proving the date. UK & Europe give automatic copyright. In the United Kingdom three legal rights protect designs; Registered designs: Gives you the right to stop anyone copying or using your design in the UK for up to 25 years. Design right: Design right is a free, automatic right that you get when you create an original design. It gives you the right to stop anyone copying your design for up to 15 years. Copyright: Copyright also protects any drawings or plans of your design

Web Banner for Victoria Centre

I wanted to specifically design a banner effectively for the Christmas season so it would be inspirational to the audience. I chose to do a banner design for the Victoria Centre because it typically attracts over 450,000 visitors a week, which means that around 23 million customers visit each year. The original banner for the Victoria Centre does not include any Christmas images so the purpose of the design of a banner ad was to complement and also enhance the existing banner. For example, I took lots of photographs and movie images taken within the Victoria Centre to provide a Christmas theme, which were later, saved to my folders. I took a variety of images, which a multiple audience could relate to of different ages and backgrounds in order to broaden the appeal of the banner ad. Once I had rearranged all the best quality images, I then accessed Photoshop and resized the images. I then used the adjustment layers, which are handy as they allow me to experiment with colour and tone. Also I was able to add filters, adjust colour balance and contrast. I have chosen the colour royal blue for the boarder as it is similar to the colour Victoria Centre already has on their original website. Most of all the colours that I used are to compliment the Christmas season, which are within the images.

Design: City Symphony

The interpretation and execution of this task was completely down to the students, the only limitations we had were that it had to be either a still image or a video and that it could include sound. We were also told to pay attention to patterns, shapes, form, colour and texture. Immediately after we were set the task, The first thing I decided to do was to look up the definition of the word symphony, here is what I found. "Anything characterized by a harmonious combination of elements, especially an effective combination of colours." I used different elements to produce a final picture in Illustrator and Photoshop. I used the same picture of the leaves three times but using the different layers and stylised effects in Photoshop.
